Can I say it in one word?
SUCKED!
I saw this movie last night, even though I was forwarned that I wasn't going to like it. I should have listened!
Has anyone else seen this?
I think it has done a great injustice to any metal fan! :(
Wow! I'm blown away... It seemed like (by the looks of the trailers) that this would be a great movie. Sorry to hear that it sucked Bambi. I guess I better wait until it's released on video. :(
I haven't seen this movie, but I think I could handle looking at Heath Ledger for two hours no matter how bad the movie is. ;)
Adam, I have to disagree. This movie looked like a pile of crap from the git-go.
Jennifer Aniston & Mark Wahlberg = crap!
These 2 couldn't act there way out of a wet paper bag. I have a suggestion to everyone, watch "Memento". This has to be one of the most innovative and brilliant movies of the last several years. I'm sick of these brainless, non-thought provoking, heartless movies. Explosions and name recognition don't make for great movies!
Marky Mark should stop acting!
You have a great point Leonard. Mark Wahlberg didn't impress me in Planet of the Apes and Jennifer Aniston should stick to doing television. Thanks for snapping me out of the thought that "Rock Star" should have been a great movie. ;) Maybe it was the metal riffs that attracted me to it in the first place. :D

I don't think Heath Ledger is in it.
Atleast I don't remember seeing him.
Jennifer Aniston needs to just be RACHEL, because that's who she plays in this movie too.
It's a good story, if they built on it. It was like watching an "outline" of a movie with no "guts" or real story to it.
There's this fight scene where one band gets into a fight in the parking lot with another band and the guys are worried about tearing their clothes. Well, I don't know about you, but the band guys I knew in the '80s were tough, and would've knocked the other person out, regardless of the "threads" they had on!
True story= my ex boyfriend got into a fight with Bobby Dall, got pretty bad! (Before the band became famous!)
Well, like I said before, sometimes I live in a closet. I don't know what made me think that Heath Ledger was in that movie. He must have one out and I got the trailers crossed in my mind. I spend 8 hours a day with 12 year olds! Just put me back on track when I wander.....lol. Jen

Okay Jen, Will do!
They should have had Heath Ledger in the movie, it would have liven it up!

I have to agree that Memento is an excellent movie! One of those movies that really makes you think. I though the sequence in which they shot the film to be pretty creative. It is out on video right now.
I went to see it because the lead singer of a local band recommended it. So glad we took him up on it.

Yes these guys have reformed.

All thought I have not seen the movie I think the only song that Mike of Steelheart sang on was "We All Die Young"

Wow! I didn't know it was about Stealheart! Go figure hehe
And I'm sorry to disagree with you all, but I enjoyed the movie :) It wasn't the best plot or anything, but it brought back a lot of great memories and it was fun. And having seen that side of the music industry before, it was pretty acurate, actually.
But, anyway...I digress :D

IMO The movie itself wasn't to bad it had a pretty good soundtrack. My problem was who they picked to be the "Rockstar" Mark Walberg?? Christ what's next Rob Halford staring in a rap movie??

i saw this movie on september 12 because i needed a distraction and i didn't want to see a movie that i actually might want to remember afterwards. so i saw "rock star" and it was totally stupid and fulfilled the purpose of distraction. in my opinion, marky mark didn't have much to do with it being bad because i think he can act (i liked him in boogie nights) but the script SUCKED. oh, and they tried to make jennifer aniston too modern looking. she did NOT look like a cool rocker chick from the 80s. the plot was ridiculous. like any band would replace their lead singer with some random guy WHILE ON TOUR. that's public suicide! stupid stupid stupid. anyway, there are just too many stupid parts to get into (oh, and i think that the fight in the parking lot was supposed to be "humourous", but anyway). the best part of the movie was during the credits when they showed those outtakes. like when they were rehearsing a concert scene and the tech guys, without telling mark wahlberg, put on "good vibrations" on the loudspeakers and started break dancing. he took it in good humour. i thought it was hilarious.
and yes, it was loosely based on judas priest (gay lead singer who was replaced by singer from cover band).
memento is FANTASTIC! director of that also directed insomnia, which is definitely worth seeing. al pacino is a master.

Hey Witchstone!
I always liked Mark Wahlberg too, that's why I went to see it in the first place. And I agree with you about Jennifer Anniston, she did not look like an '80s Metal chick, AT ALL! At one point she had that "Disco EyeMakeup" on.
Oh well! It could have been a great movie if they spent the time on it!
Didn't realize it was based loosely on Judas Priest's frontman Robert Halford. I might have to check it out just because of that fact. Even though most of you didn't think it was that great.

I would give credit to this movie for trying to make it more 'authentic' by casting real metal musicians. I agree that the plot was pretty weak, and although I am a fan of Mark Wahlberg (check out FEAR), that casting could have been better on that part. If any of you noticed, George Clooney was a producer and it is said that he and Mark are good buddies.
I remember wearing tighter clothes and sky high hair, not the wardrobe that Jennifer Anistion wore!
I enjoyed it more for a flashback than anything else. I would probably would have bought the soundtrack without seeing the movie!

I liked the show myself...to each his own I suppose. :)
I bought the soundtrack to the movie today in fact. I had been wanting it for a while but didn't want to pay that much for it. Our Sam Goody's is going out of business so I got it for only $6.50 !!

Look, the movie was entertaining. It was Hollywood! What did we expect?
The soundtrack was pretty cool. Heard they filmed the studio scenes in Gene Simmons house.
