I'm talking about the band, and not the drug or "you know what". :)
I just received three remastered limited edition CDs from HMV.com, and I'm loving them. I got "Black Sea", "Skylarking" and "Drums and Wires". I already have "Skylarking" on CD, but the remastered version has the lineup that came on the original LP, including the wonderful and beautiful song, "Mermaid Smiles."
The CDs don't come in regular jewel cases, but in jackets. They actually look like mini LP jackets, and they have the original LP artwork. It's so awesome to have these albums, and the sound quality is excellent. :)
I was so impressed I just ordered:
Mummer
Nonsuch
Oranges & Lemons
Big Express

I'm not a huge fan of their first two albums, "White Music" and "Go2", but I might still get them someday.
Oh HMV.com is a Canadian site, which is a good thing for us Americans, because things are a bit cheaper.

I may have to check out this site. Thanks, Molly. I never became really familiar with the music of XTC. I'll have to download some MP3's and refresh my memory. jen

If you're not familiar with XTC you might want to try: Chalkhills. This is one of the best sites about XTC out there, and they also have a mailing list you can get on. The webmaster, John Relph is fantastic.

They're pretty good. I used love that song, "Dear God". Reminds me of early highschool.

I have this record by them called "Wake Up". It has "Senses Working Overtime" on it.

Are you sure the album's called, "Wake Up"? I don't know of any XTC called, "Wake Up". I know there's a song called, "Wake Up", which is on their "The Big Express". The album, "Senses Working Overtime" is on their album, "English Settlement".

That is what is on the cover. I think it is an import ep. I will go look at it again later in my collection and get back to you.

Ok, the title is "Wake Up". This is the song list:

Side A:

1. Wake Up
2. Take This Town
3. Mantis On Parole-Homo Safari Series No. 4

Side B:

1. Making Plans For Nigel
2. Sgt Rock (Is Going To Help Me)
3. Senses Working Overtime

At the bottom of the back side of the sleeve it says "Manufactured in the UK" so I'm thinking it was an import. I found it at a local Half Price Books store here.

ME ME I LOVE XTC!

I always thought XTC got a raw deal in America, as 'The Mayor of Simpleton' (US #72, 1989) became their only Billboard Hot 100 hit in the 80's

I love their 1979 'Drums and Wires' album the best. Both 'Making Plans For Nigel' and 'Life Begins at the Hop', the latter which is one of my favourite songs of 1980, both made our top 40 charts here :thumbsup3

From what I remember, 'Generals and Majors' in 1980, 'Senses Working Overtime' in 1982, and the controversial 'Dear God' in 1986 were also big hits here!
