Where is Billy Joel Now?

Billy Joel has checked himself into a Connecticut substance abuse and psychiatric hospital, according to his label, Columbia.

The 53-year old artist entered New Canaan's Silver Hill Hospital for "a planned 10-day stay to deal with a specific and personal problem that had recently developed," according to a statement released Wednesday (June 19). The statement offered no further explanation.

It's too bad... Didn't think of him of being a substance abuser...

that's awful. i love billy joel. he's an incredible performer. the first concert i went to was a billy joel concert and he really raised the bar for what i expect from a performer (i hate it when people just get up, sing, and leave--i mean, i may has well have listened to the album at home! if i'm paying to see you live, give me something that i don't get from the album, at least chat a bit! but anyway). i hope he kicks whatever this is, and soon.

Gotta give that guy TONS of credit! It's tuff to accept that you have a problem, and put your pride on the side and ask for help.

I hope this is not the beginning of his demise. Gotta keep the faith.

I remember reading a interview with him, where he dealt with depression early in his career!! I think he will make it through this!! And when he comes through it he'll have even more to write about!!!

Suz, :cool: that is a great point about him writing. It just escaped me how a person can get more creative in song-writing from personal experiences. :confused: Duh for the DJ! Thanks For the Link Tim!! That was a great story!! I am glad to hear he is doing better!! But it's sad that he has not been very sucessful in love, he seems like such a great guy!!
