I see football topics but no NHL! With the greatest sport on earth now active I think the flow should change or in the least, add itself to the discussion.

So... who here likes Hockey? What's your favourite team? How about player? Any cool stories you wish to share? Who you think is going to win the Stanley Cup?

Sorry DT, I didn't notice that you started the ball rollin'... being new, I didn't go back far enough to catch up on all the discussion.

I hope NY Rangers do better... they have an incredible group of stars... sorry about PAVEL.

You see I'm a CANUCK HEAD!! Although MESS didn't do anything for us I have been his fan from the beginning... waaaaay back to those Eighties Oilers! hehehe

I am proud to say that this year CANUCKS will prove to be very dangerous... maybe even final cup contenders.

I must admit that the most exciting Final EVER was Canucks vs NYR... many hockey fans should agree it's in the top three at least.

Anyone wanna dispute that?

The Rangers will win the cup!!!!!!!!!! Well, in reality I'd settle for the playoffs. Its been pretty disappointing since we won the cup in 94. We have had so much talent and no team chemistry. Add to that Richter always being hurt and you have a team that can't even make the playoffs. I would have to say my favorite player is Messier. I like the fact that he's a scorer and leader, but also isn't afraid to throw a punch (same goes for Lindros). I agree with your prediction that the Canucks will have a good year. So are you from Vancouver?

Messier is one tough S.O.B.... in the eighties with the Oilers when Gretsky and Kurri had the spotlight, Messier was still tops... although played a much tougher game. Affectionately nicknamed "Mr. Elbow" by his hated opponents. hehehe...

He's what, 42? AND still in great shape... this guy is the ideal hockey player! I figure he'll be around for 2-3 years yet... maybe take the record for the oldest player ever to play. I know Gordie was around for a while in his fourties... however, I think Messier stands a good chance. I'm hoping anyway.

Oh... about them winning the cup. They have the star power... but NO TEAM power... so no way! They should at least make the playoffs... hmmm wonder what will happen in a couple years when NYR won't be able to afford the old-timer salaries or most have retired... no one really in their farm team to take up the slack? :p

WOW! Even though he beat one of my other favourite teams Bure put on a show for NYR fans... sweet! I hope he stays healthy. Then they might be a threat... but then that's been said before! :p

I keep hearing there won't be any NHL hockey this year. Unless things have changed. Anyone know?

Yep... here's what I know....

NO HOCKEY THIS YEAR... The owners want a salary cap and the players do not and that is where it stands right now. They made it final a couple weeks ago, no hockey this year... :( But most owners say that there will be hockey next year even if that means using replacement players.

Hockey came here. Last wekend, Kirk Muller, Doug Gilmour, Don Cherry and Ron McLean all came to my city to put on a charity hockey event. That's about as close to the NHL as it'll get this year i s'pose
