I don't know why I even like this song, anyway. But it's pretty catchy for its time, you know. Every time I hear Dokken's intoning voice going with their "ahhs", I only picture the dawn of the 80s in my mind everytime I hear that song repeated.
I'm a huge Dokken fan 83survivor. I've seen them like 5 times and have just about all their CDs. They really are a great band (even though George Lynch is doing his own thing now) and their new stuff sounds pretty awesome too!

I was watching VH1 Classic and they aired "Breaking the Chains" video-and I laughed! Don't get me wrong, I love Dokken, but that video is dripping with cheese! Back then, I would get in arguements with my fellow headbangers that George Lynch was better than any other guitarists, maybe even Eddie VH. If I remember correctly, listen to the solo for "Paris Is Burning" (AWESOME song) from "Breaking the Chains" and compare it to "Eruption", you will find they sound similiar, and I think Dokken's song came out first. The last Dokken CD I bought was "Erase the Slate". I listened to George's latest CD a few months ago, and it is terrible. Techno crap! Oh well...sweet revenge, the bitter end, this time...
You're right David... That video is definitely cheesy seeing it now... But when that song first came out, I couldn't wait to see the vid. LOL!
I'm not sure if I agree with you about Lynch being better than Mr. VanHalen, but George would give him a run for his money. If you like to hear great guitar work, check out the intro song Without Warning on Dokken's Tooth and Nail (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002H2B/i80scom) LP! Actually that whole album is awesome!
I'd have to do that comparison of Eruption and Paris Is Burning sometime. Too bad George's new CD kinda sucks. I was looking forward to hearing something new from him. Were you referring to sweet revenge with Don vs. George?
Here's a cool review I found of Tooth & Nail:
Toothsome 80's Metal that Bites Back!
Pros: Searing guitar work and aggressive melodic 80's metal.
Cons: Wish it had more tracks!
Full Review:
In 1984, Dokken unleashed their sophomore effort to hungry metal fans that knew this band had more to offer after Dokken's lukewarm debut. What they got was a stunning record that was a huge step forward in all aspects. 'Tooth And Nail' was a model for early 80's metal and proved that Dokken was more than just another sub-par act trying to break out of the budding Hollywood metal scene.
After the swelling intro of "Without Warning", the album fires off the title track which is a blistering exhibition in Guitar Shredding 101 by one of my all-time favorite guitarists, George Lynch. His all out display of speedy hammer-ons, pull-offs and fingertapping is frighteningly exquisite. I recently caught a performance by George and his own band, Lynch Mob, and they opening the set with "Tooth And Nail" in which George exceeded the fury captured on the recorded version. Definitely something I'll never forget as I stood 3 feet away as he pulled it off.
The next track, "Just Got Lucky", was an early example of Dokken's pop metal leanings with its simple yet catchy riffs. The power ballad "Alone Again" is easily the most popular track off 'Tooth And Nail' and definitely the most commercial. That's always been a favorite of mine to play on guitar since it includes both a soft side and hard side. It's an excellent tune and one of Dokken's best ever. This album is filled with Dokken classics and there's really not a bad tune to be found.
I could very well go on and on about this disc because I love it so much. It transcends my penchant for 80's metal because it's so well crafted. Dokken teetered on the line between heavy metal and pop metal on this one and that's when I've enjoyed them the most, when they've kept the pop flavorings to a minimum. I'm not saying I dislike the pop metal niche Dokken carved out for themselves in the 80's, but they've always had an aggressive side that for the most part wasn't utilized enough on subsequent releases.
Overall, this album is more raw and intense than anything this band has done and I can't recommend it enough to 80's heavy metal and pop metal fans. All axe-slingers should take notice (in case you missed this one) because Tooth and Nail (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002H2B/i80scom) features some incredible George Lynch leads at a time when he thought he was average at best being unschooled and all. (Yeah, whatever!) If only this album was longer!

George put together the Lynch Mob in the early 90s, and the first CD...actually, I think it was a tape...was great. After that, and another so-so Lynch Mob effort, he did a few more solo projects before rejoining Dokken. He then broke off again. Dokken has had better commercial succes, and Reb Beach has filled in nicely. Dokken is back on tour this year...and where is Mr. Lynch? Its a bit strange. Don seemed like the ego of the band, and George the innovator, but its George on the outside looking in. I didn't think Reb could actually do as good a job, and the chops are lacking compared to George's, but he fits the sound. I'm gonna say this- and don't throw things- but I got into Winger a few months ago after buying their greatest hits CD. Wow! It is great! Most of it is the last stuff they put out after the 80s. Reb has been touring with BOTH bands!

Love Dokken!
I last saw them in concert in 2000, they were on tour with Slaughter, Cinderella, and Poison. I forgot what the tour was called! Headbangers Ball maybe?

How could I forget this song?
We're the Dream Warriors..........Dream Warriors.........maybe tonight you'll be gone..........!
Love that song, too.
Yes... A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors. I remember when that came out... I went to go see it myself just because Dokken was on the soundtrack. It was a so so movie and I was kinda annoyed cause you didn't hear the song until the credits were rolling at the end. :irked: LOL Oh well
