Edward Scissorhands is in my top five favorite movies of all time!!! I cry at the end EVERYSINGLE TIME!! I also really liked Crybaby, which co-starred Rikki Lake.
I just remembered Benny and Joon. What a great movie. I loved when he was swinging back and forth outside her window.

Best Johnny Depp movie "what's eating Gilbert Grape?" It is also the best Leonardo Dicaprico move.
I did enjoy Johnny in the new movie "Blow"

This is probably going to sound weird, but I think Johnny Depp is one of the best actors of our time. He's never afraid to take chances and only occasionally will make a "true Hollywood" piece of crap (i.e. Astronauts Wife, Nick of Time). Since most of the movies already mentioned were from the 90's, I will just pick my top 5 favorite movies overall:
1. Ed Wood
2. Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas
3. Platoon
4. Sleepy Hollow
5. Cry Baby

I have to agree with DT29!
For an '80's Movie I have to say "Platoon"
If I pick from the '90's I loved him in "Ed Wood".
I also liked "Don Juan DeMarco" and "Donnie Brasco"

Ok. I agree. Johnny Depp is one of the most talented actors of our time, however, according to the Internet Movie DataBase, he was only in 3 movies in the 80's. Nightmare on Elm St., Private Resort and Platoon. Everything else was 1990 and more recent.
From Hell, Chocolat, Sleepy Hollow, Donnie Brasco, Don Juan DeMarco, Ed Wood, Gilbert Grape, Benny and Joon, Edward Scissorhands and Crybaby, Platoon and Nightmare on Jump Street... I mean Elm Street. The guy has done some phenomenal stuff. Truly one of the biggest talents of our era.
Benny and Joon simply because it was a first date with someone that is still VERY special to me despite it not working out between us romantically. :)
I really enjoyed What's Eating Gilbert Grape. It was such a sad movie, and both Johnny and Leonardo di Caprio gave such great performances. Truly heartbreaking.
I also love Edward Scissorhands, which was sort of the ultimate 80s fairy tale, to me, at least!!!

What's Eating Gilbert Grape was a brilliant and well acted movie as was Benny and June.
I also enjoyed Edward Scissorhands.

Oh, and what about the movie where he plays Ichabod and there's a headless horseman after him? That one's pretty good, too.

Johnny Depp is actually a pretty darn good actor!
My favourite 80s movie of his is "Platoon". All though he was only in a small role.
Generally I prefer his later stuff. (Not that he's done much in any decade really). He was great in Ed Wood and pretty darn good in Sleepy Hollow. So my top movies for each decade would be those:
80s: Platoon
90s: Ed Wood
2ks: Sleepy Hollow

I totally forgot about What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I freakin looooove that movie, and yes it is another sad one. However, I was more impressed with Decaprios performance than Depps, which is prolly why I failed to mention it earlier;)
