I have a question about this release... do you all know if the DVD collection is going to be the ORIGINAL format, and unchanged versions... or will these include the new footage they added recently?
I was rather upset when they went back to "add to" and "revamp" the original 3 movies... I had the same issue when they did this to ET as well.. I'd rather just keep the movies true to form and the way they were...
If you all know the answer to this please let me know... I truly would love to own the collection on DVD and replace my dated VHS versions of the originals (I didn't buy the newer versions for the reason stated above)
Thanks

I'm pretty sure we can expect to see the special editions in the boxset. After all this is the way George Lucas wants them to be....still, I'm sure a lot of fans disagree with that decision.
They should have both versions IMO. Who knows, maybe they do. I was watching a "Making of Star Wars" last week and I think the DVD set has a more in-depth version of the Making of. So thats kind of good to have as well.

i was extremely disapointed in the new star wars dvd trilogy. i am a star wars junkie and i turned the dvd off after the first half hour of the first one. i couldn't torture myself any longer. he's totally destroyed it. i know i am set in my ways lol but that's how i feel. my new favorite saying is "if george lucas digitally restored a tree in a forest, would anyone care?" lol i heard that somewhere on the internet. it was nice that he changed it for the "new generation" i guess, but it wasn't the masterpiece that i was expecting, so i rented it instead of buying it.
