Asecurity guard alerted the police after a man wearing a wig, fake moustache and false teeth walked into Zales (Jewelry Store) in California. Three squad cars arrived and police detained the man, who turned out to be Michael Jackson in disguise.

1980: Drummer Peter Criss quit Kiss to pursue a solo career.

1980: Joe Strummer of The Clash was arrested in Hamburg, Germany, after hitting a fan with his guitar. A fight had erupted during the concert.

1992: Johnny Carson bid farewell to "The Tonight Show" after 30 years as host of the late-night talk show.
