This is from sly's official site so I suppose it for real. I've also heard rumours that Mr. T is going to appear, but I've been able to confirm it

from www.sylvesterstallone.com
"Fifteen years after the last installment, Sylvester Stallone is reprising his role as boxing champ Rocky Balboa in the sixth 'Rocky' movie! Sly will write and direct "Rocky Balboa," which will begin shooting in Philadelphia and Las Vegas next year. The story will focus on an aging, widowed Rocky, who returns to the ring once more to challenge a powerful champion. "I am drawing on a lot of my feelings that are in sync with many people's feelings about facing the last chapter of their lives and how they want it to be written," Stallone said. Stallone wrote all the Rocky films and directed the second, third and fourth entries. The first movie, released in 1976, won three Oscars, including best picture and best director for John G. Avildsen. This is glorious news for fans of the series who have longed to see Stallone return to the iconic character"

here's some of news from www.cnn.com:
---------
LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Sylvester Stallone is signing on to reprise his role as boxer Rocky Balboa in the sixth installment of the long-running film series, which he wrote and will direct.
The film, titled "Rocky Balboa," will be co-produced and co-financed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.
Stallone has been trying to make a sixth movie for years and has been reworking a script. The latest version, which sources said is similar to the tone and grit of the first two movies, persuaded the studios to negotiate a deal.
"In many ways, the screenplay really took me back to the original 'Rocky,' " Revolution Studios founder Joe Roth said in a statement. "As a past champion, Rocky Balboa is once again a regular guy who has to find himself and deal with real life. This film brings Rocky's story full circle."

More news then...The movie will be entitled "Rocky Balboa" and not Rocky VI.
A describtion of the plot have been added at the IMDB entry for the movie as well
"'Rocky Balboa' examines one of America's greatest icons at a vulnerable period in his life--middle age. A former heavyweight boxing champion, known and renown throughout the world for going the distance, Rocky finds a new venture: giving back to his community. This is where he, once more, finds himself at the opposing side of opportunity, not unlike the one he has seen decades ago. Heavyweight champ Mason Dixon and his representation offer Rocky a shot for the title. For Balboa, it'll be one last hurrah he'll never forget.....but with his glory days far behind him can he withstand the inevitabilities of what's to come? A look at going full circle and wanting more, when life turns out how you least expect it and then some."
Burt Young will most likely return as Rocky's Brother Paulie, but Talia Shire will not appear in the movie as her character has passed in the time between Rocky V and the new movie, making Balboa a widower.
Shooting will begin in Las Vegas and Philadelphia early 2006 and the worldwide release should be around early 2007.
