What I find funny is that when they picked this song for the movie Pretty in Pink - they had no idea what the true meaning of the lyrics were. That Caroline was extremely promiscuous - she would have sex with any man, hoping that one would fall in love with her - but they never do/did... And, "pretty in pink" does not mean she looked good in pink clothes - rather she looked good naked - in the 'pink'.
